http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerusalem
With a population of 704,900 (as of December 31, 2004 [1]), it is a richly heterogeneous city, representing a wide range of national, religious, and socioeconomic groups. The section called the "Old City" is surrounded by walls and consists of four quarters: Armenian, Christian, Jewish, and Muslim.

I didnt blame the history, I stated a fact. Humanity has 2 options, either take lesson from past and realize that exploiting the power a country has to gain unfair economical advantages sooner or later will result as the end of the world and change the U.N. system where right is powerful not the powerful is right or continue to fight for economical reasons till the end of the world.

I will give you a simple exanple for you to understand. There are chinese farmers in video games right and nobody likes them but still continue to purchase credits or items online. Whom is to blame? Farmers or the ones who buy those credits? Whats the solution? To stop buying the credits?

Now its not an easy goal to achieve as mankind is greedy and prefers present pleasure to distant pains. I hope for the sake of humanity, one day they will learn to live as decent human beings.
[/b]

The fault is those who create the market..people will always provide a service where a profit can be made and it can only be ended when a service is no longer profitiable

If people stopped buying there would be no chinese credit farmers <_<

No not divide it, if u divide it ppl will still try to capture the rest. Make it a free city which belongs to no nation. A litttle like Vatican with no popes.:) and governed by a commitee of 3 guys. (Jew, christian and muslim)

What about the Armenians?
[/b]

I don't understand what they're doing there in the first place

Armenians are orthodox christians.
[/b]

Oh armenians were brought there during crusades, after Turks moved into Anatolia, they drove Armenians from eastern Anatolia, The crusaders needed ppl to garrison and live when they captured jerusalem back so thats why they mae an armenian King of Jerusalem.

I know this is a horrid thing to say, but it's how I feel. I'm happy I don't remember most of the history of this part of the world. It makes me very desolat just reading these posts. I know that's kind of rude because these people are going through such hard times - it seems always.

Well i am sorry to inform u that world is like a body. Depending on the level of disease and damage on one organ you may or may not feel the pain but the potential is always there.

I need to pick up some books again hehe :) I always assumed that "christian" in those parts and times equaled "catholic" considering the origin of the crusades. Shame on me I guess, especially since my country has an overwhelming orthodox majority.

I'm aware of that. But me sitting in an office and waiting for my day to get over does little to change that disease and damage. I help when and where I can - but the little I do won't stop the damage.

History is a cool subject, getting over the bloody feuds that torment many countries to this day, many of them have a surprisingly rich cultural heritage behind them.

Which is why I give even when I can't afford it. Or give in other ways.

It kinda of reminds me when i saw a news report in America..when Iraq was first invaded the majority of Americans didnt know where Iraq was and some had never heard of it before

I dont know how some people arent aware of world events and history, for me world news and reading is vital, without it its like being blind

Compared to the rest of the world there is an opinion of Americans, that they are never aware of whats happening outside of american news.

I personally found that when i was there and watching the news..it was totally weird when they didnt mention anything about the rest of the world. I wounder if thats true for most of you

Its just how can you have an opinion on a culture or plan on taking some form of action against an area of the world when you dont understand its history

Well, what about England? I thought most of it was Christian Orthodox. My grandparents are orthodox. They tried to teach me and convert me, but I was raised in a much different way.

Hardly. The orthodox majority lies around the Balkans, or around the ex-soviet block. In the UK you have catholics, protestants, presbytarians (sp) etc.
