You never really owned a Genesis unless you owned the SegaCD and the 32x!

The 32x sucked, but SegaCD 4LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, the Sonic game for the SegaCD was epic and almost made the SegaCD worth it.......almost.

What, you didn't like all the FMV games that were the "wave of the future"?

Ugh!

I had this one, and it was abysmal. I still await a truly good emulation of the Sonic CD game, music was killer.

The Sherlock Holmes game that came with the system?!? That game was awesome! The others Night Trap and Sewer Shark sucked donkey balls!

List o' games

Snatcher was the bomb...I think I wore a hole in that one
Eternal Champions was a bad fighter, but better then the cartridge version
Shining Force CD blew goats, I thought it would be a true RPG and not one of these Tactics type games
Jurassic Park ....well pretty much says it all. The cartridge version was much better.
Lunar Eternal Blue was an awesome game

Dude, that game was horrible, and I now hate you for liking that flaming pile of shit.

Erm... BananaMan, I might not be some one great at all this Money talk, but I know enough. While yes, total income and all is about 45% more for Sony, the net income, or total profits after expenses and all that... That is the more important figure is it not?
It's more than 10 times larger for Microsoft, is it not?

Can you explain to me how that makes Sony Richer?

In consequence was, Microsoft developing the worlds most advanced console in 2006?

OK, before looking at financial statements and pretending that Net Income, Net Profit, and Gross Income/Profit are what determines how a company is performing, it's good to be aware of the following about the two companies:

In 2006 Microsoft has used cash from operations and from the sale of fixed assets to pay down debt or pay owners. The same happened in 2005. However, from 2002-2004 Microsoft was using cash flows generated from operations to buy fixed assets and to pay down debt or pay owners. Intersting that they're selling off fixed assets all of a sudden.

Sony, on the other hand has been consistent in every single year from 2002 to 2006, except in 2003. All other years Sony has been using cash from operations and from borrowing or owner investments to expand. In 2003 it used cash flows generated from operations to buy fixed assets and to pay down debt or pay owners.

So, as you can see while Sony is consistently expanding, Microsoft has been paying off debts and selling stuff off. Net Income means shit if you can't see what happens behind the scenes. That's what happened with Enron. They recorded record high incomes, but their cash flow statement showed an $800 million dollar turnaround from 2000 to 2001.

My prediction is that Sony will eventually give up on the console and concentrate on releasing games. The PS3 was a dissaster compared to thier past record. To recover from this with a PS4 would take a massive of marketing and development. The only thing that would save the company in making a PS4 is to have it an open source style, esp with the OS. Remove all the restictions and give geeks something they can play with even after the console itself becomes outdated. Judging by Sony's rediculous copywright protections ideas I highly doubt this will ever happen.

This is one reason the Xbox did so well was all the mods that could be done to the core system with Linux OS mods and what not.

I expect Sony to become like Sega in the console market. They can concentrate on games alone which is where all the money is actually made. The PS however won't go out with as much praise as the Dreamcast did. That system rocked. I still play mine occasionally. I have bought 3 PS1's and 2 PS2's in past years which all but the last one broke. Strangely the one that didn't break was the one I soldered a mod chip into. My Dreamcast has been dropped, kicked, bounced down the stairs, yet still works flawlessly.

Sony will have to have to make much better hardware if they expect to stay in the console market.
