Is the XBox 360 hype over?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Shaggz1297 @ Feb 23 2006, 12:31 AM)
i understand its purpose. but
1) too advance probably for nintendo's main buyer-ie 5 yr olds. they dont make too many adult games compaired to the 15,000 Pokemon games put out.
2)Im playing a video game. I dont give a crap about "swing my sword by moving my hand" crap. i want to press "A" to swing my sword, nothing else. its a console not a computer, companies need to realize this fact
3) future or not, innovative or not, its still looks stupid, gay, and ugly.

Not like PS3's boomarangs are much better...

Your ignorance knows no bounds...but I do agree with the stupid, gay, and ugly part.

Ah, but the Revolution will supply you the means to play all those games from your hardheaded 80s.........only on a stupid, gay and ugly controller.

What did you have to do to your systems to make that work?

Void the warranties :P

Modifying the case != as changing the O/S to allow MAME to run.

I changed no OS. Just piggybacked a hacked bios and switch from the original to it to use MAME.

yes, and there is ways to burn them all onto disc and use them on a dreamcast too. a buddy in the military had 3 discs with all the nes games on them (spread out on 3 discs i mean)

and to be 100% honest- and flame if you want- i really dont give a shit about playing most games from 1982. the game usually sucks, along with the graphics and controls. Im intrested in playing my PS 1 &2 games on m new PS3.

The Xbox 360 not being 100% backwards compatable says that they didnt want to put the extra time and money in their product. I dont have an ipod to hook upto it, I dont have a surround sound to hook up to it, I aint really gonna hook my computer up to it. I want simply what it should be- a video game console.

I havent had a Nintendo since SNes, so i dont think ill get the revolution. and the main honest-to-God reason why i wont be buying it isnt the controller, it is that in the past Ive seen Nintendo market to more younger market base, say ages from 6- 15 yrs old. they do come out with bigger titles and games for adults, BUT i havent seen them put out enough in the past to keep me satisfied. for every 1 adult games put out, they put out 3 marios and 6 pokemon games.
Is that a more reasonable explaination Fluffy? ;)

Now you're putting up a legit argument. I don't get to play that many games at all, so the few adult games that N puts out are more than enough to keep me happy, throw in the emulator built in and I am in heaven. N does make great adult games...just not nearly enough of them for a lot of people. Though some of the games not considered "adult" were simply awesome as well (i.e. Paper Mario, Pikmin, Super Mario Sunshine).

now i will have to say and agree that when the PS2, Xbox, and all the other systems where coming out, I played games alot, and now with a wife and kid, I dont pick up the controllers as mush as i used to.

Meh, I don't know if my taste in console gaming is fading away or the games today just suck, but I have an X-Box and only have a handful of titles for it.

Full Spectrum Warrior
GTA San Andreas
Mercenaries
NFL2k5
Jade Empire

There really hasn't been a whole lot out there to tickles my fancy. Like Fluff was sayin some of the "kid" games are actually pretty fun. Some of the "adult themed" games are just as craptacular as pokemon. Most of them either deal with rappers, urban life and rappers, and rappers wrestling rappers.

Good call, Wook Wife loved Final Fantasy, and loved Disney, so that game was like her mecca.

I think it's sequal is due out soon, no?

Guys there are some great lesser known titles out there.

If you want a game that is just plain fun, try Katamari Damacy.

@Shaggz, I get your point about the limitations of the 1982 games....but heres the thing:

Technology being what it was then, the games certainly aren't going to blow you away visually...but you know the thing about that era?

Games could not blow you away with glitzy graphics, and uber gimmicks.
For a game of that era to be great, it had to be FUN.

For all of gamings modern advancements, you will still see releases that look great, are all tricked out with the latest techology has to offer, but are complete pieces of shit to play.
Today, you can dress up a turd in apretty package and still fool some people....that stuff didn't cut it in 1982.

Shaggz, classic gaming isn't for everyone, but if you have time, I'd like to suggest you pick up an intellivision emulator (as I'm certain you dont have a console to try this on) and get the roms for Burgertime, Tron Deadly Disks, Lock n Chase, ADD Treasure of Tarmin, Diner and Snafu....and tell me that these games aren't FUN.
