Key note on that is the burning of CDs using 16x or higher speeds. So if you want your burned CDs to last for a long time:

1: Don't use crappy $0.20 CDs, pay a little extra for the descent quality ones
2: Don't use faster than 16x to burn them, yeah I know it takes longer but it is worth it in the long run
3: Always have a CD-ROM on your computer, a lot of these "damaged" CDs don't work in DVD readers, but work fine in good ole fashioned CD readers. Get my drift.
4: Don't use your CDs as coasters, seriously, that's what the AOL CDs are for.

Been burning CDs that have lasted a LOT longer than their ridiculous 5 year max life.

I don't use my CD's as coasters thank you very much. That is what the built in cup holder in my computer is for.

ROFL!!!!!!

AOL CD's as coasters FTW!!!!!!

Oh, and by the way, my oldest burnt CD is about 10 years old or so, has a bunch of old games on it, Prince of Persia 1 & 2, Kings quest 1-6, Dune 2000, oh, and a bunch more i can't think of off hte top of my head :D.

As long as you take care of your disks, and don't buy crappy ones to start of with they should last a long time. Nothing is indefinate obviously, but it should still last.

Ya, I almost want to comment on that article, but they don't provide a means to do so on that site :((the PCgamer site, not the scienceagogo site you posted Artica)

ya, they kick major ass.

A couple of my personal favorites are still Full Throttle and The Dig. Both made my LEC and both an extreamly good reason why LEC should have never stoped making their adventure games. Those two games arn't on that Burnt CD, i got them in some LEC bundle packs I bought years ago. and aside from one disk out of those three packs(i only bought 3, there were 4 though) only one has ever broken on me, and that one i still have too, it works in slow CD-ROM's, but not in fast ones because the crack in it starts in the middle and goes out, but doesn't go all the way through. Either way I have a burnt copy of that disk too, did that the first day i noticed the crack.
