That is fucking insane.
And I'm already planning to go next year. That is fucking insane.

I just ordered me an electric full-auto STG 77, hehe. And I'm already planning to go next year.
The same company puts on 5 events throughout the year... It costs $90 to register, but damn I think it's worth every last penny.
Time for me to gear up and practice a bit...

In further research the cost for the upcoming OP:Irene IV is $225, but the registration is now closed.I just ordered me an electric full-auto STG 77, hehe.
Where does the company host the events?

Most of the quality AEG (Automatic Electric Guns) cost over $300, a few might be priced on special just a little lower. I was told that Classic Army has the best stuff, and at the cheapest I've seen a CA AK-47 go for $265 on clearance. Link for exampleAround how much does a high end Airsoft gun like that cost?

Anything cheaper than that and you'll probably be getting an inferior product, but you MIGHT get lucky.
M249 support guns get up to the $900 range, and I think M60s go for around $500.
If you have alot of money and nothing to spend it on you can get a M134 (Predator gatling gun) custom made for around $5,000. Another video
And in most organized airsoft events you have to use gas-powered sidearms for ranges under 50ft due to the velocity of your main weapons, and those usually range from $100-$150.
Most AEGs have a velocity between 300-400fps, and at extreme close range that will kick your ass. The spring can be changed out for more or less velocity, and at high quality events they have a chrono to make sure no one is over the allowable limit for that event. I've seen people bragging about getting over 800fps with some of their setups, but limits for most events are around 400fps for AEGs and 500fps for sniper rifles.
If you want some examples of how the whole airsoft community operates, and maybe even get some useful info, you can check out the local forums/organization I joined at http://www.airsoftarizona.com/forumbb/index.php [/b]
Just make sure you keep the orange tip... even then you might get shot by the cops.

Keep in mind there's people like Tutok wandering around with a badge and a gun, so you should be scared right off the bat. [/b]

I'm trying to find out when the next big national OP is but the Best of USA Marketing group holds events in California, Texas, Tennessee and Ohio.
There are other big events throughout the year, but I'm new so I'm still learning how this works.
Since you're in NY, you might want to get involved with Green Mountain Rangers - A site for team comprised of members in New England & New York. Their site says they're not taking new members, but it's worth a shot.
You can also check this page for organization links for your area.
I'm looking at getting a Classic Army M15A4 RIS
Upgraded w/ Systema M100 spring, shooting 330 FPS w/ .20 bbs
9.6v 3300mah AN/PEQ Battery box set.
Replica Aimpoint
Cut-down rear sight
G&P QD KAC Replica Silencer
G&P Short Barrel M203
1 TM Standard Mag painted
10 STAR 30rnd Mags

Needs to be repainted, but it's a solid weapon.

I'm not really sure. I just told the guy selling the gun that I'd buy it, so it'll be a few days before I know for sure.Does the silencer on yours work? I know mine does which I think makes it illegal.
