This trailer shows a lot more than before and it looks pretty good to me. :)
I don't care what people think, good or bad, personally I'm a fan of Supes and I follow the comics a little but not regularly.
This film is going to be interesting to see what they have done. A different approach by basing it from Superman 1 and 2 rather than brand new. Have to see how that works.
Getting used to younger actors supposedly playing the same roles will be tricky. But hopefully with CGI we can see Superman do what he does best now in more detail.

1 thing I know is that when I am sitting in the cinema and that classic Superman music score starts playing, I will be grinning like Artica on a Kitty cat nip high! :cat: :D I can't wait. ^_^
 
this movie is gonna suck huge balls. its gonna be aimed toward teens. pretty much something straight out of the WB.

might as well call it, "Superman Goes Gay With Timi, and El-Diablos Gets Jealous!"
 
I tell you what, that trailer does not exactly make me want to run out and see that movie. Not very inspiring...at all. Hey, movie might still be highly entertaining, but I got to go with Stav on this one, trailer looked terrible, they made Superman Returns into "Smallville: The Movie".


Oh, did anyone else notice that every single person (even the extras) were all white? Was weird, especially the shot where you see all the people standing there looking up. Weird. I am sure I missed it, just struck me as odd.
 
One point in particular that makes the new Superman less apealing to me is the fact that the actress playing Lois is pretty hot. Generally, hot chicks in movies gets a grade A in my book, but I like how Margot Kidder was not some Hollywood glamour model with fake breasts. Can't really describe it past that, but after this film comes out I'm pretty sure the old school films will still be my favorites.
 
hot chicks in movies is being overused and exploited, so it no longer counts as a grade a in my book. nowadays, the movie must include hot chicks exposing skin as well as two midgets on pogo sticks slapping each other to death

I actually really liked the trailer. But visually Supes looks too xboxey. Like a video game. If you listen to the words, follow the images but ignore the fx, this trailer could be better than the movie it's selling.

The 70's movie sold itself by saying "you will believe a man can fly." And at the time, you really did.

I can go on and on as to why I think that first movie was great. But one thing about it then, that is relevant today is this: The late 70's was an extremely jaded and cynical time. Post watergate, post vietnam, gas prices out of control, elvis was dead, blah blah blah. We had no faith in our president, our government or our heroes. America was a bubbling cauldron of hot poo. Then comes Superman. He was the complete antithesis to what America was feeling at the time. Positive, idealistic, self-sacrificing... truthful. A reminder to a great people, of who they once were and who they could be again if they just believe in themselves.

Now flash forward to 2006. We are jaded and cynical once again. Post 9/11, mired in an unpopular war with no end in sight, gas prices out of control, Barry Bonds is on steroids blah blah blah. Once again America has lost its faith in its president, its government and its heroes. A great people have lost their way again... So guess who's back?

I do like how they are selling this movie. Where did you go? Does he still stand for truth, justice, all that stuff? How could you leave us like that? This movie isnt about a guy who can fly. Its about America. Agree or not, America has become a drab and black & white place since 2001. Now here comes the guy in colorful tights to bitch-slap us again. To make us heroes again.

I'm pretty sure that I'm going to like this trailer much more than the move, but I'm okay with that.

and djmtott, I couldn't agree more on the margot kidder thing. She's the best lois lane as far as I'm concerned.
 
I think this movie might just suprise us and become a summer blockbuster. I for one am looking forward to seeing it. Definitly a date movie :)

Yeah that's the odd thing for me. She's supposed to be playing Kidder but years on. Yet shes a lot younger and it just doesn't sit right? Sure shes a good actress but she doesn't look the right age for the apparent timeline.

I'm going to see it anyhow. There's not that many cool blockbusters coming out this year.
I'm looking forward to a film that will just be feel good at times, watching Supes fly down and kick ass. Also there will be a good story it seems.
I like Spider-Man and X-Men etc. But wouldn't it be nice to see Spidey having more fun than constantly worried about Mary Jane? :)

I have the last Superman 1 and 2 Box set. The extra stuff on Superman I was great.

Do you know how much it costs to buy food from UK cinemas? :lol:
 
Just read this about the Superman Returns game.
EA said it would release its "Superman Returns" game in the fall, when the film is released on DVD, rather than in the first quarter.
The company is also changing its focus from making games based on such licensed properties to focus on those it owns completely.

The game looks like a Superman version of Ultimate Spider-Man. Should be good.
Glad they delay something to get it right rather than rush it out and mess it up.

You know, i'd really love to see a New Mutants/X-Force trilogy

First movie would be the creation of the New Mutants, then their transformation into the X-Force, and finally, their breakup and Cable going solo
