Questions

Retired SWG Bounty Hunter
In order to lead a more fulfilling life and do other things than just play computer games, gamecube, and watch TV... I have questions for you!

I will attempt to use the answers to help me live a more well-rounded life, because Curse posted some internet/computer addiction thing that got me thinking.

Here goes:

1 - Who do you work for / what do you do / estimated yearly salary (unless you're nervous to talk about that, which I can understand)?

2 - Are you married and do you have kids?

3 - What other hobbies do you have other than computer activities?

4 - How many people live in your area (again not exact numbers I'm not trying to make anyone uncomfortable)?

5 - What are some of your goals in life? Why are these your goals?

6 - About how many friends do you have IRL? (if you have so many you can't count just say so)

7 - If you were to breakdown an average day of your life how would it look?

I'll start to get things going.

1 - I was a student until last month now I'm unemployed I filed an application today for something that pays decent but nothing too great not much room for advancement. I recently earned an Associate in Arts.

2 - No and no. I am wondering if I will or not, raising kids is a huge responsibility! Getting married - probably not as demanding but still huge!

3 - Not much. I play gamecube, watch TV, watch movies with friends, and sometimes other things - though to be honest not very often.

4 - Within reasonable driving range to actually hang out with regularly, I figure probably 30 to 40,000.

5 - To become independent. To have a wonderful girlfriend and hopefully spouse. Because independence is important to me and I really want to be self-sufficient instead of living off other people's graces. Because love is awesome. Another goal I have is to get more goals because I don't think about them much and I should probably have more.

6 - In Real Life I have a large number of friends, or former-friends even. However I only have perhaps 5 or so "real" friends that I hang out with on often a weekly to monthly basis.

7 - For the last four weeks it's like this: Wake up, Get on the computer, Eat lunch, get bored and post on Wanderhomies forums, eat dinner, watch a movie or more computer, and sleep. It's not always like this just recently. Usually I fit work or school into that.

1 - Who do you work for / what do you do / estimated yearly salary (unless you're nervous to talk about that, which I can understand)?
I don't work yet
2 - Are you married and do you have kids?
Nope
3 - What other hobbies do you have other than computer activities?
its all my computer infact i cant even remember what I did before swg
4 - How many people live in your area (again not exact numbers I'm not trying to make anyone uncomfortable)? in my area? hrmm somerville has a population density of about 60 people per square mile i think
5 - What are some of your goals in life? Why are these your goals?
honestly I dont know at this point in time
6 - About how many friends do you have IRL? (if you have so many you can't count just say so)
3 really good frieds
7 - If you were to breakdown an average day of your life how would it look?
I get up in the morning not because I want to but I honestly feel like something is driving me to get up. So i get up I take a piss I get some breakfeast then I sit in front of my computer watch an episode of full metal alchemist and then Im on my computer all day playing games surfing the web etc, and around 3 am i end up going to bed

I think I'll print a copy of this and give it to some random people IRL just to see if there's much difference. What the heck do people do who don't play computer or work all day?

I honestly don't know - it's kinda the point of this thing though, I'm hoping there's a few people on here who aren't quite as stuck on computer as myself :)

I just printed and copied a survey form with somewhat more refined questions, I'll try to be motivated enough tomorrow to actually pass it out to some people.

I think Starbucks will be a good place to start because although I don't drink coffee it seems to be a place where people hang out. Also maybe a book store if they don't mind and if necessary but last resort door to door.

1 - Who do you work for / what do you do / estimated yearly salary (unless you're nervous to talk about that, which I can understand)?

At the moment, student with a part time summer job of baseball umpire. Not little league, but High School and Men's League games. From the two months I work the games, usually $2500

2 - Are you married and do you have kids?

Nope, and nope.

3 - What other hobbies do you have other than computer activities?

Model airplanes, and I help my dad with his coin collection business.

4 - How many people live in your area (again not exact numbers I'm not trying to make anyone uncomfortable)?

I don't know... 50000?

5 - What are some of your goals in life? Why are these your goals?

Create my own aerospace company to rival Rolls Royce

6 - About how many friends do you have IRL? (if you have so many you can't count just say so)

Best friends: 4
Close friends: 15
Friends (you know, ones you do stuff with but don't spend more time at their house than yours): a lot

7 - If you were to breakdown an average day of your life how would it look?

wake up, shower, maybe find some food. go to class, eat lunch. go to the bank or store, home. do homework, computer, cook food, computer, go out with friends maybe, computer, sleep.

Here goes:

1 - Who do you work for / what do you do / estimated yearly salary (unless you're nervous to talk about that, which I can understand)? A company that is identical to Initech from the movie Office space. I automate bank forms for either document printers or laser printers. (so when you get a receipt at your bank think of me.) No comment on the salary, but know that I have to use creative accounting in order to somehow not get put out on the street.

2 - Are you married and do you have kids?
Yes. To Voren IRL. I met him when I was 19 in a game called Dragon Realms. He moved from Illinois to be with me in CT. We've been married for about 5.5 years now. We don't have kids yet, but are planning to.

3 - What other hobbies do you have other than computer activities? Right now? Mostly read, but I enjoy sewing, art, and music. I used to play a few instruments in college and almost wound up as a music teacher for elementry school. (I still regret that) Oh I also love to write, and play with graphic art.

4 - How many people live in your area (again not exact numbers I'm not trying to make anyone uncomfortable)? I've no idea. I live near the capital, but we're a small state.

5 - What are some of your goals in life? Why are these your goals? I want children. I want to enjoy my career and really be useful at a company. I want a house. I want to not have to worry that my bills will be paid each month and that I'll have enough for food on the table. I want to be able to give more to charity. I want to loose weight. I want to be a better wife and a better friend. Why? Because I believe life is about change and becoming better than who you were yesterday.

6 - About how many friends do you have IRL? (if you have so many you can't count just say so) Real friends? I'd say one or two, not including Voren. Both are friends from HS. One comes around so often and hangs out with me. She does musical gigs for the elderly. The other is a spazz named Stacy who often reminds me of Syntaxx. I'm also going to say that my real best friends are from right here. Fluffy is closer to me than either of these girls.

7 - If you were to breakdown an average day of your life how would it look? I hit the snooze for about an hour. I finally get up, go to the bathroom. Get cleaned up and dressed. Go downstairs and find some kind of food for breakfest while I either watch Sex in the City or the Today Show depending on if the first has new episodes on On demand. I drive into work listening to Country or rock - depending on my mood. I get into work and troll the forums while juggling my daily workload. Usually I get done early and just kind of surf the net. At lunch we often get Thai food because there is a huge Thai craving in this office. I go home. Now if Voren is at work when I get home, I sit at the PC and go into Galaxies, or one of my other games. Once Voren gets home, I either log out or he gets on. When I log out, I spend time with him watching TV or just talking. If he gets on, we go have fun together or with RGU. I curl up with a good book and fall asleep. On the weekends it's mostly play games, go eat, and probably see a movie. I think we clean up somewhere in there too.
