Prince = New Hendrix

Bullshit, Prince is very talented.....but there is only one Hendrix, some asshole tried to compare Hootie to Hendrix once, I threw my beer at him......

Prince had a few good songs. His career has been overhyped, and his status is a direct result of it. His whole career was manufactured to directly compete against Michael Jackson in that share of the market.

There are tons of great guitarists out there, let's not rush to compare someone to a legend, especially when that person is nowhere close.

Agree....Prince is good with a guitar, but would get burnt against some of the elite out there. Another thing that hurt him *cough* "Purple Rain"

When you talk about famous and legendary guitarists you think of Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Steve Vai, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Jimmy Page, just to name a few... Pince, is not on that list, or even in that league.

Apparently you've not watched the video. Santana and Clapton certainly can't do that.

It is impressive and I liked the song.

( self proclaimed NON expert on anything guitarish...)

Here is another link to him playing with Tom Petty at the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame.

You can't tell me, based on the 2 clips I've linked, that he's not channeling Hendrix. He may not have shown this guitar talent previously (though I think he did show snippets of it) but even the most cynical must admit that this is pure talent here.

He's a good guitar player, yes, don't get me wrong about that.

He's just not in the league of Hendrix, nor does he belong on any 'all time' lists.

There's plenty of guitarists out there that can play fast chords and rifts and use the whammy bar (if they still call it that)... it's takes more to be a great or legendary guitarist.
