How do I jailbreak the iPhone 3G?

I need to jailbreak it so I can use a foreign SIM card. However, there's all these things listed on the Dev Team site. I have no idea which tool to use. Do I just download and run the firmware posted on their google code page?

You probably already tried this but try googling it, I'm sure someone made a tutorial for whatever you're trying to do.

well, everything is so jumbled it's pretty difficult to figure it out. Most tutorials are not for the iphone 3G or 2.0 software. Then I'm reading things about software jailbreaking the 3g but not unlocking it, and so on. I need to be able to use a foreign SIM card on it, and so far I can't figure out if a solution exists
