Thats happened to me twice in the past year. I have a certification as an electrician and I was wiring my friend's room and she has a two circuit room, one on each side of the room. If you ask anyone that does electricity thats pretty rare, not unheard of but rare for a bedroom. So I had her shut off her circuit and it turned off all the sockets in her room but the far wall that was apparently attached to the line that runs the external sockets of her house, so I go to take off her fixture and BAM, fucking 120 volts to the arm.

Hand turned black instantly and she freaked out. It was more of a "what the fuck?!" than pain. Was funnyt o see her go nuts when I did it though. None the less, extremely painful.
