No idea why, just heard from many people that that's the way it is...*shrug*
Lots of articles says it's the other way around tho so...^_^

well, it's both ways. spiders trap all the little insects and pests that make a house 'dirty' and clean it, but in order for the spiders to survive your house has to have the insects in the first place.
