Before I go to Bed

Tiveria

Sheeptastic!
So. Sunday night Voren comes home from work and tells me my car has a flat. Again. (2nd flat in like 3 months damn it I need to make more money!). So we call around, and of course no one is open on a Sunday night in New England - it's pretty much illegal.

So I send an e-mail to my boss on Monday. The places don't open forever and we finally get the tire fixed. Not before going to Walmart to get a better jack since mine is in such dis-repair (been used like 8 times in the past three years - I need a new car).

We get the jack, and somehow we get the tire off and get a new tire. (Town Fair Tire btw is a decent place).

So. I'm a little worried about one of the other tires, but figure it's okay. I open my door and try to turn on the car. No luck. I bite my lip and send a silent prayer. It turns on, but barely. I'm freaking out because I'm already semi-late for work thanks to a Sex in the City Marathon. So. I've always been car dumb. I turned it off. Yeah. Great move eh?

Voren doesn't know how to change a battery so I call in again (my boss must think I'm nuts since I took off from Thursday of last week). We go to the nearest Autozone which is like 20 mins away. We get a battery. Now the funny thing is I have a car alarm. It decided to stop working along with my key set so I forget about it. The guy at auto zone put it into my car. When he tries to connect the battery the car alarm decides to reconnect.

So this leads to me explaining to the autozone guy that the car alarm was broken and I don't have a keypad for it anymore. He gives me a dirty look while we try to figure out how to dis-enable it again. Nothing works. He unhooks the battery and lets us look in the phone pages.

We start with the dealer. He tells us to call a shop called Jo-di's. Well it turns out they gave us the # for a stereo place, not a mechanics, and they have no idea what to do. They give us the # for the dealer again. We call the dealer who gives us another different number to try. We call that number. They tell us they don't know but to try hitting the red button while the key is in the on position but not to turn the car over. He also gives us the # for Lo-Jack.

We fiddle around and somehow manage to turn the car on. The guy plays with it and the car dies. We try again and somehow manage to start it.

All we wanted to do was turn around and go home. No. He wanted us to go around the block and come back. So we did that and then he wanted us to turn the car off. I really didn't want to, but thank God nothing bad happened. We went back home.

As we're walking into our apartment, I hear the Car alarm set itself. Voren and I just look at each other and walk into the apartment. We've both had enough for a bit. I watch some TV and then take a nap.

Voren walks outside to deliver a package that someone put on our door isntead of one of the neighbors, he checks my car alarm. Well it turned itself on. He decides that he saw something on the site that would help us. Turn the car onto the on position and hold the button for 3 secs.

He decides to close the door and that manages to turn the alarm off, but it locks teh car from being turned on.

So I'm stuck in the car. He goes and calls lo-jack. They tell us that the door needs to be open and while the alarm is going off to have the car in the on position and push the button until the light goes steady.

That worked and the car turned on.

After a quick trip to the grocery store, we came home and watched House. I'm going to bed because...well...I've had a really lousy new year so far. I can only HOPE that 2006 has something better to bring.

/cheers to Wanderhome and I hope this story brings you an once of laughter as maybe re-reading it will give me.

Trust me. If I had anything to do with it I wouldn't have gotten it. Was one of those "graduation" gifts from my parents. Ironic because I didn't graduate college until much much later. (and then it's an associates degree that sits in a bag somewhere) I will NEVER get a car with an alarm again.

I have an economy car with no alarm it was relatively cheap maybe $5000 that my dag got me. A couple months ago some jerk broke my window, and he/she didn't even take anything! Don't get me wrong I'm glad they didn't take anything, but THE NERVE!!!

I had to pay for a new window, wait for it to arrive and pay to install it. All the while I didn't drive much because with an open window anybody could just get in my car anytime, and also because it was freaking cold and all the heater air went out the window :(

BLOODY THIEVES!!! GET A REAL JOB!!!
