Anyone an expert at Macromedia Flash?

I'm starting on a new web design project, and I've brainstormed this really badass idea for the site banner. Thing is, i know almost nothing about Flash. Is there anyone out there who can help me out, like answer questions and walk me through the stuff i wanna do? You must have patience with constant nagging and questions :P

Here's a summary:
I want the banner to be as small as possible in file size, so it can load quickly. However, it will most likely by around 800px wide by 200px high. Of course, what i will need help with is the 3 primary animations. All graphics i will have made myself via photoshop. The first animation is going to be like the matrix code scrolling text. Second animation is going to be a spotlight effect going over the main title back and forth, every few seconds. The third animation will be a loop of various video clips captured from a movie. There will be NO sound.

I'm planning on starting the photoshopping tonight, so it might take a bit for it all to come together, and i still have to download the movies and snip the clips i wanna use. If you can help me out with the flash animations, please let me know!

Have you tried a GIF from Image Ready? Is way more easy, and usually they are very light.

I don't want to do a gif cause i won't be able to make the matrix-like text scroll at random increments and stuff.

Image Ready has plugins for Flash. So you can create it in IR and pass it for a Flash. Now that Adobe bought Macromedia. Creative Suite 2 IR has that option :)

You could, of course, have multiple GIFs that you put together. Don't know if that helps, but as I understand it Flash is a pain.

i used to have a 30 trial of macromedia flash..it used to be fun :P

i wish i had it now :(

I used to be descent at flash in high school, but have forgotten some. I would probably be able to do most of what you want, the only problem might be the matrix text being random. I have made a matrix text effect in Java that looked nice and was random and all, and made one in Flash that looked nice but wasn't random. If ya want to let me take a whack at it I'd be more than willing to, plus I've been wanting to get some practice back in.
