Thermite Explosion

Rain of fire... That had to be a clean 50pounds of the stuff because I saw some videos on yotube of kids using 5, 10 15 pounds and it just burns. No fire rain explosion.
 
I didn't think thermite explodes (unless there was some other reactant in there that they didn't show). They used that stuff in WWII to disable german arti right?
