Another MMO - oh my pvp batman!

Tiveria

Sheeptastic!
I'm doing some research on this game and WOW...talk about hardcore...but no RP element really. Seems more like the DOOM of MMOGS.

Some features I've seen so far:

No classes or levels

4 races. Human, Elf, Dwarf and Orcs. You pick a race and you pick a faction (like good vs evil)

Guilds can take over cities and set taxes, get bounties, etc.

PvP ranking system - with new skills, items, mounts, locations, etc

Combat - You select your skills in the begining. Then as you gain experience in those skills you unlock more advanced skills (examples are martial arts, or bashing). Every race has their own "finishing" moves (ala mortal combat - slicing heads off, etc)

No instancing at all.

An Aging system along with a familial system that they are keeping quiet on (ie loose some stats but gain others (wisdom, etc) as you age.

Mounts for both ground and air (there are 2 air zones)

OpenGL instead of DirectX

When you die, a set of your items become lootable to whomever killed you - or anyone in the vicinity.

Lots of violence, and heavily based on pvp.

You can gather and craft stuff - and some items are only found in crafting.

Just thought some of the heavy pvp'ers would like to know.

oh - and players can take over cities that other players hold by invading them (apparently npcs are triggered - probably in case that guild isn't online?)

Just a warning - I just found this wiki article.

Might try to get in on a BETA of this game. I read through all the stuff on it and it seems like the old dev team did a suck-ass job to the point the encouraged hacking peoples computers if they dissented with the game (they even posted ip address for em.........). I knwo that was what Wikipedia said, and I can hope that thye are wrong. Remain to be seen if they can bring it to life because jsut what I am seeing fro old press is kinda scary.

Well - I just went through the 7 pages of discussion from the MMORPG site. It looks like they are trying to pull through against insane odds. Oh, and I did maps.google.com on LoudAnt Software's address, and it's an office building (someone said it was a lot lol)

Also - there will not be a credit card required to play for the first week. So you can try it out without giving them that info.

Anyone who got screwed over by the old game will get free accounts for life - a decent gesture depending on how much was actually lost.

I'll give them my full attention for at least seven days.

Then you're back to focusing on me?

No, I'll probably take a break to eat some cheese.

Yeha I read through all of it over there myself before I made that post. Seems to me like they are actually trying to make it right with the customers of the original developers (they don't have to since they aren't tied to them but they are and that is a hell of a good gesture on thier part), and they are telling everyone to "come play for free for 7 days, like it, great, get an account and stick around.....don't like it and you owe us nothing" which is another good gesture from them that they don't have to do. I commend them on that.

it's nice to see a pure-pvp dedicated MMO that's pushing the limits of the MMO genre, but it's a shame it is following the human/elf/dwarf/orc model. I'm sick of every other MMO following that, but then again, its the only way to guarantee a good selling point nowadays

You called it Lords of Chaos in your initial post, thinking about old Lord Chaos of Wanderhome fame? lol
