a good gaming mouse?

Well, sad to say that its time for a new mouse. My old mouse has served me well but its time to move on. -_- Anyway enough with that! I'm looking for a new mouse and I came across this one, a Logitec MX1000. Has anyone tried this mouse and if so, is it any good?

i have the G5 and the one MAJOR thing that pisses me off about it is that it only had one button on the left hand side so you can only go back and not forward

i think the mouse on that link its pretty much the same thing but wireless

It has 3 buttons on the side. Forward, Backward, and switch windows.

yeah i noticed when i first went on the link but that in no way came across in my post :/

im off to bed

Rule of thumb...

Logitech mouse > $50 = good gaming mouse.

Heh. Personally I haven't tried it, but I am a logitech fan and if I were getting a new mouse that would probably be it.

I went ahead and picked it up to try. Its pretty nice except that games do not support buttons 5 - 6 :( Also I can't seem to get the switch application feature to work either.. Its alot more smoother than my old mouse though which is good. On a downside, you cannot buy replacement batteries I don't think seeing that you need to contact logitech support or something.. Good mouse but i mainly bought it for all the buttons but it kinda sucks i can only use 1 - 4, which is like 1 extra button

I'm looking at a dummy version of the MX1000 here now. The World's 1st Laser mouse I believe it was.
From everything I have heard from customers it's a brilliant mouse! Much better than an optical.
You must have gone out and got it before I even went to bed!

There $79.95 seems a bit steep for US. I hope you saved a bit on it. Over here it's ?49.99 which right now converts to $94!! <_< But it can be found online for ?10 cheaper.

As for the buttons I find some games don't even support 3 buttons! It says it has 8 buttons? 2 on the wheel top I think. Don't know about the switcher. Can you reprogram it?
The other buttons can be used for Windows functions though can't they.

The battery is rechargable and it says the lithium-ion battery never needs replacing. So I don't think you have anything to worry about now really. B)

I would see how you get on. I've been considering getting this myself. I think you'll have a great gaming mouse despite the buttons. :)

Well, it just went on sale, the day after I bought it. I can bring back the receipt and stuffs and get $30 back atleast. :D

Yup, 8 buttons.
5 buttons around the wheel
3 around the thumb area.

I don't know about programming... I dont think you can. I didn't install the disk it came with because I already have logitech stuff on here and it still works without it. Yes, all of the buttons works in windows and applications as well ecept for the application switcher (or atleast it dosnt switch webpages). So I may try to install the disk, maybe the games will recognize all 8 then. :(

:pinch: yes put the disc in and then see if it works!
I doubt the games will though. You need a game to be programmed for it or to recognise them. Not many about I expect.

Logitech MX510 FTW.....trust me. It was designed for gaming and a fair bit better than the G5. I've had the 510 since it came out a few yrs back, tried new ones, the 1000, the razor, etc and after a small amount of time I keep coming back to the 510.
